Snapshot Scan: benchmark your school transport network for FREE
QRoutes has launched Snapshot Scan, a free online service that benchmarks the efficiency of councils’ home-to-school transport networks.
School transport is one of the fastest-growing pressures on council budgets, yet many councils have no way to understand the efficiency of their network without costly transport reviews. Snapshot Scan changes that, providing a clear benchmark without the cost or commitment of software or consultancy.
How it works
- Download the template from the Snapshot Scan page.
- Add route data, including pick-up and destination locations, passenger needs, maximum ride times, target arrival times and current route numbers.
- Upload the file securely, with details of the current software provider and total annual transport spend.
Councils will receive a report with their Snapshot Score – a benchmark of their network’s efficiency – along with estimated savings based on current transport costs.
Your Snapshot Scan report
At the heart of the report is your Snapshot Score, a benchmark of how efficiently a network runs today. A score of 100% would mean your transport is perfect! But no-one who understands school transport is expecting perfection. Vulnerable passengers need adjustments.
Snapshot Scan is about finding the balance between appropriate support and spiralling costs. It indicates the scope for potential efficiencies in a single figure which you can compare year-on-year.
The report also shows how alternative fleets and sharing vehicles across multiple sites could improve results further.
Data privacy
Snapshot Scan only requires locations, timings and route numbers. No personal names, dates of birth or contact details are needed. Files are virus-checked, used only to calculate results and deleted within 30 days.
Upgrade to full Snapshot
Councils that want to act on their results can upgrade to the full Snapshot, a complete route-by-route plan that can be applied directly to their network.
